ImageDUBAI: The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has decided to sacrifice over 50 animals and distribute meat among the displaced people in the earthquake-affected areas of Balochistan during Eid Al Adha.
At its annual event this year, the PAD launched this initiative to support the affected people in the earthquake-hit areas. The deadly earthquake resulted in the death of over 300 people in three major districts — Awaran, Mashkay and Trubat — besides displacing thousands of people who are still homeless and depending on the relief operation being carried out by different national agencies.
The PAD launched an appeal and asked the community to contribute toward sacrificing the animals and extend their support to benefit the hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Balochistan.
The community members contributed Dhs570 for a goat, Dhs1785 for a full cow and Dhs255 as a single share for the big sacrificial animal like cow or camel.
Talking to The Gulf Today on Wednesday, Rizwan Fancy, a senior official at the PAD, said that the response was good from the community as a large number of people contributed to donate their sacrificial animals’ share for the earthquake-affected people.
“In the last couple of weeks, the PAD has collected some money to arrange for the sacrifice and distribute meat among the displaced people,” he said.
Thousands of people in different areas will be benefited through the PAD initiative as around 50 animals will be slaughtered and the meat will be distributed through the local support of of the Al Khidmat Foundation, which has already started its relief operation to provide food items and other goods.
Sarmad, a community member who was among those who contributed in this initiative, pointed out that the contribution from the community in Dubai will bring some relief for the earthquake-affected in Balochistan.
“According to media reports, there are still many areas where people need relief as many are still without a roof over their heads. The officials assured that they will distribute meat in those remote areas where the situation is already very grim. They will collaborate with the Al Khidmat Foundation known for its ground support all over the country and always present in these times of adversities,” he said.
