By Jamil Khan | DUBAI

Emirates Post, UAE’s official postal operator and leading express provider, has launched its newly developed application during the GITEX 2021, a leading global technology exhibition and conference which attracts consumers and traders on areas of information, communication and technology.

This digital solution provides customers with more location options, enhances the visibility of shipments, and a step towards their digital transformation.

“The new app is designed to enhance customer experience, improve efficiency, and faster solutions. Registered users will be able to use services faster and will be updated of their shipments through in-app notifications as the mobile application is now available on Google and Apple play stores,” said Peter Somers, CEO of Emirates Post with an exclusive interview with the Gulf Today on Monday.

The mobile app offers more flexible pick-up and drop-off options such as Emirates Post’s newly added new service points at fuel station partners.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group said: “This new addition to our digital services is a testament that we are responding to the wide adaptation of technology in various sectors including postal. Postal companies are not outdated anymore, and Emirates Post is on the right track with its digital transformation, alongside a robust expansion and diversification to further serve our customers.

“In every new digital tool we offer, we aim to provide more convenience and flexibility to our valued customers. This new mobile application is designed to enhance and support our ongoing services to achieve an exemplary customer experience.”

Peter Somers said: “GITEX convenes the digital and technology world in one place, and this serves as the ideal opportunity for Emirates Post to launch its mobile application which is designed primarily to provide our customers with more options and simplified shipment tracking. We have been revolutionizing our traditional postal model to remain competitive and we revamped our investments on digital channels, particularly on mobile and web apps.

“Our new app is a product of Emirates Post’s forward-thinking vision and keenness to provide a seamless solution for our customers. We are proud to introduce this mobile application, marking the start of seamless customer journey across our digital and retail channels,” Somers said.

Peter Somers talking on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2021 said that the new mobile application fits in our strategy of our company’s digital transformation from traditional postal company to modern logistics company. We already have express parcels service of last-mile delivery including all kinds of parcels, Emirates ID, Amazon packages besides others. The firm has massive fleet of over 800 vehicles to deliver parcels on homes, offices and everywhere every day.

“To enhance the delivery process, we developed Emirates Post App as through this application a customer can check the status of his post but also manage his preferences of delivery to make the whole process for customer as ‘seamless’ and today the seamless procedure is digital,” he said.

Emirates Post has been restructuring its business units, automating its products, services, and processes, and diversifying its portfolio as parts of its robust transformation and expansion plans.

The four-day GITEX 2021 convenes major tech players, investors, and experts in a series of exhibitions and conferences to ignite positive technological change across industries and sectors.

Pakistan Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque has inaugurated the Pakistani Pavilion on Monday in the 5-day GITEX Global 2021 being held at the Dubai World Trade Center.
The minister was accompanied with Hassan Afzal Khan, Pakistan Consul General in Dubai and Northern Emirates besides a number of Consulate General staff. The minister toured the stalls set up by Pakistani firms and briefed on the services they offered to the visitors at the global event.
Around 35 Pakistani firms are being participated in the GITEX Global 2021 including 15 start ups nominated by Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) through a process.
The minister lauded the Pakistani firms for their role in the country’s technology scene and vowed to extend full support from the government.
“Many of the participating firms in the global event are already working with UAE-based firms to cater their international clients,” said Hassan Afzal Khan while talking to media.
The Pakistani firms are overwhelmed by the response from the visitors at the event as trade delegates participating in the 4-day global event are seeking more affordable IT solutions, said a Pakistani exhibitor.
