Kids at Rashid Centre celebrate Mother’s Day

MOTHERS of hundreds of children with special needs, enrolled at the Rashid Centre for the Disabled, were treated with surprises as kids celebrated the World Mother’s Day.
As part of the World Mother’s Day, the students at the Rashid Centre were engaged in a variety of activities including painting and designing ‘wish cards’ with their favourite messages and presented them to their mothers.
A group of students of different age groups and members of Rashid Stars performed different acts from singing, dancing and drama to express their affection towards their mothers as “Shukran Mama.”
The evening was also attended by Sheikha Fatima Bint Hasher Bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, famous Bahraini actress Zainab Al Askari, along with a large group of mothers of students.
The diferently-abled students expressed their love for their mothers under #Shkura_mama slogan launched by the Centre to celebrate the day.
As part of the open day celebrations, the guests toured the different facilities at the Centre and reviewed the children engaged in the art workshop to produce the attractive and colourful gifts for their mothers.
The tour was accompanied by Maryam Othman, CEO of the centre addressing the gathering.
Actress Zainab Al Askari interacted with students and distributed them special gifts bearing a design distinctive to each student, and received, including some handmade products on the occasion of Mother’s Day. She remarked, “How beautiful is what I saw and what I heard today at the Centre, it’s all due to the beautiful mothers.”
Maryam Othman on the occasion said that the humanitarian role and the affection shown by famous actress Zainab Al Askari has brought profound smiles on the faces of special needs children whom she interacted with during the tour.
“We appreciate all such people who are influential and have made a difference in the lives of children with special needs,” she added.
