Labour Run motivates workers

BLUE-COLLAR workers along with around 700 people from different spheres of society participated in the second edition of the Labour Run. It is a unique social event that blends blue-collar workers with the mainstream community. The event took place at Sonapur, a major labour accommodation area in Dubai.
The run in the two formats, 3K & 10, was organised by Team Sports UAE, a Dubai-based sports event management company, with the support of Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) and Majid Al Futaim Charity Foundation.
Mehrun Nisa, the founder of the Team Sports UAE, expressed great relief at the success of the event. It included prominent government and private bodies including Community Development Authority (CDA) Dubai, Pakistan Association Dubai (Pad), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Majid Al Futaim Charity Foundation along with a number of companies whose workers took part in the run.
Dr Faisal Ikram, General Secretary of Pakistan Association, told the media that the idea to organise a run for blue-collar workers was to give them an opportunity to participate with professionals and integrate with members of other communities.
Besides the workers who took part in the run, around 300 people from mainstream society also participated to show their solidarity with the blue collars.
The run was attended by dignitaries from various government and private bodies to support the initiative.
