Pakistan bodies assure

PAKISTAN Association Dubai (Pad) has been spending annually over one million dirhams on various projects for the community in the UAE and back home. The association will extend all possible support to Social Centre Sharjah in welfare and other fields to resolve community issues.
This was stated by Dr Faisal Ikram, General Secretary of Pad at a reception hosted to honour the newly elected office-bearers of Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah (PSCS) at the association’s premises on Wednesday evening.
Khalid Hussain Chaudhry, elected-president PSCS led his team that included Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry, Masood Ahmad, Rafik Nasir, Amjad Iqbal Amjad, Safeer Satti, Imran Aslam, Nasr Hashmi and Muhammad Saeed Akhter.
The Pad executive body members present were Tahir Zaidi, Shahid-ul-Islam and Samina Nasir.
“The association with the support of the community is not just supporting the community through a number of welfare projects in Dubai. But it is also engaged in resolving various issues besides involving community in different social and welfare activities,” he remarked in his opening speech.
He also briefed the guest about Parwarish – an orphanage running in Swat, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa province in Pakistan – with the contributions of the expatriate community in the UAE.
Parwarish was started to provide schooling and boarding to orphans after the Army operation in 2007 in Swat left many children orphaned. “The school started with 35 children. Today the boarding school for orphans has 235 students.
“The boarding and schooling runs with the generous support of UAE-based Pakistani expatriate community.” A piece of land was recently acquired to construct its own building and work will be started soon to achieve the target of enrolling 500 children,” he said.
