Quest to enhance social service delivery

THE Ministry of Community Development (MSA) and the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) signed on Thursday a service integration document to boost the collaboration between the federal and local services in order to improve social programmes and people’s lives.
In the presence of Najla Al Awar, Minister of Community Development; Sana Mohammad Sohail, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Community Development and Khaled Al Kamda, Director General, Community Development Authority in Dubai signed the document at the Executive Council of the Government of Dubai. The signing ceremony was also attended by Aisha Miran, Assistant Secretary General for Strategy Management and Governance at the Executive Council.
The “Service integration between MSA &CDA” document will streamline the partnership between the two parties and will clarify the roles and responsibilities according to the outcomes’ priorities.
Based on the agreed document, a joint committee will be formulated to trigger cooperation between the two parties, and to set the roles and tasks for all the joint actions in the community sector. The committee will form joint teams to work on the main priorities, and develop an integrated and detailed action plans. A dedicated team for social services integration will be responsible for collaboration and information exchange related to the two parties’ clients another team will look after families’ empowerment and a third team will collaborate for developing social services licensing.
Sohail said the agreement is in line with the federal government strategy to support cooperation between government entities to improve the community services in the UAE, and to ensure the provision of high-quality social services.
“We work together to promote community services, and to advance community cohesion. The Ministry of Community Development and Community Development Authority in Dubai share the same vision, a common goal, and are working towards the same objectives,” she said.
On hosting the MOU signing, Abdulla Al Shaibani, the Secretary General of the Executive Council, said: “The Government of Dubai priorities are aligned with those of the UAE federal government, and we value the collaboration between the federal and local entities in developing a world-class social sector.” He added, “The Dubai Executive Council is looking to implement a comprehensive framework to promote and enhance collaboration between federal ministries and local government entities to meet the targets of UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021, and to account for global trends and future directions. This will ensure that the UAE and Dubai can continue to be among the best places in the world, in line with the vision of our leadership”.
Khaled Al Kamda said the agreement constitutes a new stage for the community services. He pointed out that the coordination and integration in the social programmes and projects enables delivering better services and reaching the aspirations of the broadest segments of the clients.
