NaMo (Narendra Modi) In Dubai

Different evening

By Jamil Khan | DUBAI

THE recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UAE has set many milestones on the level of strategic, economic and bilateral co-operation between the two countries, but there were also many individuals who witnessed the event as a memorable one for them. Modi In Dubai
Being in the country for the last many years, it was a rare sight for many expatriates to see such a huge public gathering for any visiting foreign premier.
For me, being in the middle of the stadium along with several other mediapersons was a remarkable moment as the field, which usually witnessed felicitation of cricket players, was packed with chairs for visitors to listen to the address.
“The huge stadium filled with Indian expatriates made it look like we were watching a cricket match in Mumbai cricket stadium between two IPL-rival teams. Music, dance and cheers made the atmosphere like a home ground,” remarked Sethi, a media colleague representing an FM radio station based in Fujairah.
He told me hundreds of community members reached the venue 3-6 hours earlier along with families and friends.
Over all, it turned out to be a different evening.
