Rashid Centre hosts Zad Zayed Award

TO celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Day, and in honour of the death anniversary of the founder of the nation, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a number of prominent personalities from different fields have been awarded the “International Zad Zayed” Award.
The award recognising the humanitarian work done by prominent personalities in different sectors to remember the humanitarian initiative of Sheikh Zayed was launched by the Rashid Centre for the Disabled at a colourful ceremony at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai.
Sheikhs, businessmen, diplomats and other prominent personalities from various sectors were present at the event.
The event was held in response to and under the guidance and direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to highlight its importance as part of the celebrations of the “Zayed Humanitarian Day” which falls on Ramadan 19. Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Managing Director of the Centre and Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, a member of the Board of Directors, Abdullah Bin Zarah, Director-General of the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Charity, also attended the ceremony.
Rashid Centre for the Disabled has launched a number of initiatives to recognise the services in humanitarian and other fields and give awards like “Sheikh Rashid Award for the Humanitarians”, “Sheikh Rashid Award for the Human Personality” and recently the new award named “Zayed Humanitarian Day”.
The award aims to strengthen and deepen the heritage, values and ideology and visions of Sheikh Zayed for the present and future generations, celebrating his idea of heritage and upholding his legacy. It urges the UAE community to promote positive practices stemming from noble principles.
Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Managing Director of the Centre and Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, a member of the Board of Directors, awarded the nominees.
Dr Mansoor Al Awar, President Hamdan Bin Mohammed University; Khalifa Bu Amim, Director of the Office of International Relations also for Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai, Sultan Saqr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Board of Dewa; Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Senior Vice President, Emirates Airline of the Department of Commercial Operations; Tariq al-Shehhi, brother of the martyr Colonel Khaled al-Shehhi, received awards. The award for the martyr, Hazim Obaid Khalfan Al Ali, was received by his mother.
Maryam Othman, Director General of the Centre, said that “the centre has excelled in its response to cultural and national directives of Sheikh Mohammed on the importance of celebrating Zayed Humanitarian Day with the launch of the “Zad Zayed” award.”
A number of performances were also part of the ceremony by prominent groups.
