Rashid Centre students celebrate Al Nasr victory

THE last academic day for differently-abled students at the Rashid Centre for the Disabled in Dubai was not a routine day ahead of summer vacation. They were set to celebrate the recent victory of one of Dubai’s prominent football clubs, Al Nasr Club, with gusto.
The students of all age groups at the centre celebrated the victory of Al Nasr Club, who won the title of President Cup 2015. The celebrations started as the officials from the Club brought the victory trophy and placed it in the central hall of the Rashid Centre, decorated in a way to welcome its heroes.jamil-rashid-trophy
Al Nasr Club through its players, officials and management, have taken part in a number of activities supporting the children from Rashid Centre. Last month, the Club hosted a festival at its indoor facility and organised a number of activities including a ceremonial football match between teams comprised of professional players, senior government officials as well as prominent Arab media personalities. Another basketball match was also played between the students and players from other mainstream sectors.
The event was attended by Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, the Managing Director of the Centre, and his son Sheikh Maktoum, along with a large number of other dignitaries including Ahmed Hashim Khoury, Deputy Chairman of Al Nasr Club and other members of board of directors of Rashid Centre who were present to celebrate the victory with the students of the Centre.
Prominent players of the Club along with senior management officials were also present to witness the celebration as students performed and enthralled the visitors.
Famous Kuwaiti singer Shams also attended the event and spent time with students who sang her song and showed their attachment to the singer.
Maryam Othman, Director General of the Centre, expressed her gratitude towards the officials of Al Nasr Club and other guests who were present to bring happiness to the faces of the children.
