Dubai Art Symposium to kick off next month

DUBAI: Children from the Rashid Centre for the Disabled are excited to be part of the week-long second edition of the Dubai International Art Symposium (DIAS) and interact with a variety of artists from over 20 countries around the world.
The second edition of DIAS will be held in Dubai between April 13-20, in which 30 artists from over 20 countries including the UAE will showcase their talents for transforming the humanitarian tweets of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.1
Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Acting Chairman Rashid Centre and Chairman DIAS, Georges Bachara, board member and strategic partner for DIAS’s 2nd year, and Ali Al Ameri, a renowned artist and poet, addressed the media at a press conference.
Children at the centre, particularly from the art section, were excited about DIAS’s theme this year.
As many as 30 local, Arab and international artists will gather under one roof in Dubai to showcase their artwork. The artists will portray a number of paintings under the theme “Coloured Tweets” to transform the humanitarian tweets of Sheikh Mohammed on canvas.
His Highness’s tweets are well worthy to be depicted through superior works of art, these tweets illuminate the blessed path of charity and humanity invoking a spirit of humility and oneness.  Furthermore, it was announced that His Highness’s tweets will be published in the form of a book and released during Rashid Cultural Season this year.
Maryam Othman, Director General of the Centre, told the media that “we have participated as well as organised a number of art exhibitions. The theme of this year’s Dubai International Art Symposium is ‘Coloured Tweets’.
The artwork based on the ‘coloured tweets’ will showcase the creation of 30 international, local and Arab artists to transform the humanitarian tweets of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum into beautiful works of art.
“We will also spread the words of His Highness’s tweets through other mediums for example in the form of a book. The main goal is to highlight the humanitarian message. And this message is extremely clear through His Highness’s humanitarian tweets. It will affect society a lot in a positive way,” she added.
It was also mentioned that the exhibition of these paintings will be held in May while some selected paintings will be auctioned to raise funds for the centre.
