Mall donates Dhs600,000 to Down Syndrome Association

DUBAI: The UAE Down Syndrome Association has received a donation of Dhs600,000 as a result of a year-long initiative.
The campaign “Leave the change to change their life” began on Dec 7, 2013 and concluded on Feb 7, 2015 as part of Panda’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
At a ceremony held at HyperPanda in Dubai Festival City on Monday, Muwaffaq Mansour Jamal, CEO Panda Retail Company presented a cheque of Dhs611,168 to Sonia Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the UAE Down Syndrome Association and Goodwill Ambassador for Children, in the presence of a large number of guests including a group of children from the centre.
Jamal expressed his delight at the strong development and success of the programme — one of Panda Retail’s leading initiatives in social responsibility that has succeeded in raising over two million dirhams since its launch in 2009.
He emphasised that it was Panda’s loyal customer purchases which helped support the outstanding work and humanitarian efforts of the UAE Down Syndrome Association.
He acknowledged the valuable contributions which will go towards supporting children with Down Syndrome, their parents and their caregivers.
It aims to significantly improve the quality of their lives and offer them the best opportunity to play an active role in their individual communities.
Sonia Al Hashimi, expressed the organisation’s gratitude and appreciation of the donation from Panda Retail Company.
After thanking Panda for their constant support and outstanding commitment to social responsibility initiatives, she stressed that the success and growth of “Leave the change to change their lives”, has massively contributed to the organisation’s work.
She added that their aim is to improve the quality of life of people with Down Syndrome, and they are in constant need of support from the public to achieve this goal.
