DUBAI: Over 200 ladies from different corporate and social backgrounds had participated in a number of activities set as part of the “ladies luncheon” to express their support for Al Noor Training Centre for Special Needs and its students.
It was the 12th edition of the ladies only event being organising by the Hilton Jumeirah, Dubai in its premises as pJAMIL-AlNoor-2art of corporate social responsibility towards the children with special needs.
The participating ladies were given a chance buy products made by students with special needs at their in-house Smile ’N Stuff shop selling to promote their talent in different categories. The stall offering paintings, flowers, and other stuff made by the disabled students were also getting huge attention.
Isphana Al Khatib, Director of Al Noor Centre, told The Gulf Today that “the Ladies Luncheon is not only an annual regular event but also became a social occasion as well where women from different social and corporate backgrounds meet and show their affection towards the Centre. Many buy the products made by the students as part of the Smile ’N Stuff project while many show their support to take part in the different activities like auction and others to support the Centre.”
As part of the event, a group of students with special needs presented catwalk while many were part of different acts presented in front of the gathering.
During lunch, the officials from Al Noor Centre updated the gathering about the operation of the centre, as there were many who were attending for the first time.
“We told the gathering about the latest services being offered at the centre and how they support the students with special needs. The previous event had help Al Noor Centre to raise around Dhs96,000, which is a good amount when compared to the gathering but we need much more to run the facility smoothly,” she said.
Andreas Searty, Hilton Dubai Cluster General Manager, said: “Over the past twelve years, Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort and Al Noor Special Needs have had a remarkable collaboration supporting the Special Needs children in our local community. And we are exclusive partners of this ladies luncheon being held at the Hilton Jumeirah Dubai for the last many years,” she added.
A majority of the women were in different business organisations and had been taking part in the social and charity event to raise funds and support for Al Noor Centre for many years, but there were many who were attending for the first time.
