Annual Urdu poetry session on Jan.29

DUBAI: A number of Urdu poets from India and the UAE are going to enthral Urdu lovers in the upcoming Mushaira (poetry session) in Dubai.
The 13th edition of the Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira will be held at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School in Dubai on Jan.29, said Syed Salahuddin, founder and chief organiser of the annual Indian Republic Day Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira.
T.P. Seetharam, Ambassador of India to the UAE, will be the chief guest along with special guest Anurag Bhushan, Consul General of India, Dubai.
Salahuddin, who has been organising the session, extended his gratitude towards the authorities of the Dubai Shopping Festival for incorporating the poetry session as the part of the official event in the current DSF calendar.
Popular poets of Hindi and Urdu will enlighten the upcoming event including Prof. Waseem Barelvi, Anjum Rahbar, Dr Kaleem Qaisar, Jauhar Kanpuri, Mansoor Usmani, Ashok Sundarani, Naeem Akhtar, Anamika Ambar, Shola Tandvi, Ambareen Amber, Dr Nadeem Shaad and Farooque Adil. The Mushaira will be conducted by Mansoor Usmani.
“Entry will be strictly by invitation only while ETV will be recording for its viewers around the world and will be aired on TV in over 92 countries later,” he said.
He further pointed that they will bring out a trilingual souvenir of 175 + pages projecting the importance and background of Republic Day. It will also include the latest poetry of the participating poets. The souvenir will be designed to have the value of a collector’s item.
