Rashid Centre kids honour media advocates

DUBAI: Rashid Centre for the Disabled has organised an annual event to honour media personalities and tendered their support and advocacy as the voice of differently-abled children through their respective organisations on Wednesday evening.
The ceremony to award the media personalities was held at the extravaganza and set up tent in Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Juma Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Managing Director of the centre, Maryam Othman, Director General, board members and a large number of guests from various organisations.744A8135
The event, which featured an array of activities, showcased the hidden talent of Rashid Centre’s children who presented tableaus and dances to the guests.
As part of the annual event, a number of stalls were also set up by different corporate organisations which have been supporting the centre throughout the year.
These stalls put luxury watches, writing instruments, perfumes and items on display in their latest ranges and other guests showed great interest in them.
The huge area showcased a variety of items made by the students through their regular training in different departments; and it was received with grand applause from the guests who appreciated their efforts to design the paintings, home decoration items, abayas, wooden artifacts and others.
Maryam Othman, Director General of the Centre, in her speech highlighted the support extended by the media throughout the year to highlight the activities of the students with special needs of the centre as well as to spread the awareness in the society for the inclusion of these students.
As part of the event, prominent mediapersons from the press were awarded for their extraordinary contribution including Saif Al Marri, Ahmad Shuqairi, Amr Laithi, Fayez al-Maliki, in addition to honouring the Kuwaiti actress Ghadir Sabti, artist Safiya Omari, United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, and a friend of Rashid Centre since its beginning.
However, the representatives of the corporate sector including Zenith Watches, QNET and others were also honoured for their continued support for the Rashid Centre.
