Emirati entrepreneur named president of non-profit organisation

JAMIL-Toastmaster-PresidentDUBAI: A group of professionals from various companies and members of Toastmasters International in Dubai organised a meeting to celebrate the achievement of an Emirati, Colonel Mohammed Murad, who become the highest officer of the global educational organisation.
The ceremony was held at the Al Futtaim Training Centre, Rashidiya, Dubai and was attended by members and guests of the global organisation in the UAE.
The UAE has 109 Toastmaster clubs and Dubai is home to 67 of them with members from all walks of life coming together with the aim of honing their communication and public speaking skills.
Murad, an Emirati entrepreneur, has been a member of the organisation since 1996 and has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation — the highest level of educational achievement in the organisation.
His home club is the Dubai Toastmasters Club — the oldest Toastmaster Club in the UAE.
He was appointed the new International President of the Toastmasters International during the organisation’s 835rd annual International Convention, held on Aug.20-23 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This was also the first time that the International Convention was held outside the USA.
As the highest-ranking officer of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Murad is a “working ambassador” for the organisation.
He will work with the board to develop, support and modify the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations. Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, the organisation’s membership exceeds 313,000 in more than 14,650 clubs in 126 countries.
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people of all backgrounds become more confident in front of an audience.
Addressing the gathering in his honour, Murad said, “It’s a privilege to serve an organisation that helps people gain the confidence and skills to improve their lives in many ways. I’m looking forward to giving back to the organisation that has given so much to me,” he said, and appreciated the members.
Murad is managing director of three companies. Along with an extensive experience in global marketing and branding, he has more than 27 years of experience as director and chief executive officer in the fields of emergency medical services management, human resource development and strategic planning.
He holds an MBA and a Master of Quality Management degree from the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia.
He is also a graduate of the City of Dubai’s Leadership Development Programme, and has received training at Harvard, London Business School and the Singapore School of Government.
