SHARJAH: Over 650 students, teachers and community members residing in Ras Al Khaimah expressed admiration of the renovation work at a local school and vowed improvements in the standard of the education with continued support from philanthropists.
The building of Pakistan Higher Secondary School in Ras Al Khaimah (PHSS-RAK) was in a bad condition when the authorities and school management approached the consulate for help. With its connections in the Pakistani community, the consulate in Dubai was approached by Syed Hasan Bokhari, a Pakistani businessman and educationist, who showed great interest in donating funds for the renovation.
In the short span of three months, Bokhari collaborated with the consulate and school management and started renovation work. Spending around Dhs200,000, the school saw new doors, furnished classrooms, whitewashed walls, new furniture, a huge canopy in the grounds, and other renovations.
To acknowledge the generous gesture, the school management organised a ceremony and distributed commemorative certificates among the last year position holders in the board examinations. The ceremony was attended by Javid Jalil Khattak, Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai and Northern Emirates, Dr Ahmad Boutti, senior official from the Ministry of Education in RAK, consulate staff, teachers, students, parents and community members.
Khattak addressed the gathering, lauding the generosity extended by Bokhari and announcing the 15 per cent increase in the teachers’ salary and vowed that the school will show tremendous results in the future. He also showed great satisfaction on the overall improvement of the school’s management, which was once in the deficit of Dhs200,000, but now shows a surplus of Dhs350,000. Bokhari said that they will continue supporting the school to provide international standard equipment for the community’s students.
