Flower message

Attending an event to celebrate International Women’s Day at a shopping mall in Sharjah recently, I was among the many who were not expecting such a scene.
Yes. It was a pleasant moment when everyone present at the meeting turned their heads towards the entrance to admire a woman decked up in a dress made of flowers.
From head to toe, including the hat, she had adorned herself with a variety of flowers in varied hues catching the attention of one and all, young and old alike.
She had been employed by the mall as part of the celebrations to mark Women’s Day. She carried a bucket full of roses to pass on to every little girl as a goodwill gesture.
“These are artificial flowers and the dress weighs over 3 kilogrammes, no easy task,” the cheerful Filipina remarked.
She had distributed roses among many female visitors throughout the day, but took a break of 10 minutes after every 20-minute tour.
“A woman with a 1,000-watt smile presenting a flower to another woman to mark Women’s Day is truly symbolic,” commented my colleague. I readily agreed.
