Asif Durrani is new Pak envoy to UAE

SHARJAH: Asif Durrani, a career diplomat, has assumed responsibility as the Ambassador of Pakistan in the UAE on Wednesday.
He called on Abdullah Bin Mohammed Butti Al Hamid, under-secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Abu Dhabi, and also met with Shahab Ahmed Al Fahimi, Chief of Protocol of the UAE, and presented a copy of his credentials.Image
Durrani will replace Jamil Ahmed Khan, who completed his three-year tenure in June last year and Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Charge d’ Affaires, assumed the responsibility as top Pakistani diplomat in the country.
According to the officials, Durrani joined the Pakistan foreign service in 1986 and has held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan missions including Second Secretary in New Delhi, First Secretary in Tehran, Counsellor in New York, Minister/Deputy Head of Mission in Kabul and Deputy High Commissioner in London.
He also served at the headquarters as Section Officer, Director UN and Disarmament and Director General (UN) besides serving as Additional Secretary (Foreign Affairs) in President’s Secretariat from Feb.2012 till Aug.2013 before taking on the 99th National Management College (NMC) Course in Aug.2013.
