Schools win ‘PAK-UAE solidarity’ competition ahead of National Day

DUBAI: Students of Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School in Ras Al Khaimah have won the trophy of overall performance in the competition organised by the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) among 11 other community schools.
The competition, ‘Iqbal and spirit of the Unity’, held at the Pakistan Education Academy auditorium, was the first of the month-long events devised by the association to show its  solidarity with the UAE on its 42nd National Day.
Almost 110 students from different community schools participated in the celebrations which included quizzes, painting, calligraphy and poster designing events based on the theme of ‘Iqbal and spirit of the Unity’.
The chief guest was Javed Jalil Khattak, Consul General of Pakistan, while the guest of honour was Saleh Al Mazmi, head of licensing at the Community Development Authority (CDA).
Pakistan Islamia Secondary School Ras Al Khaimah also won the quiz competition, while the poster competition was won by the English Language School-Dubai, the poetry competition by Sheikh Rashid Pakistan School-Dubai, and the Calligraphy Competition by Sheikh Rashid Pakistan School Dubai.
A large number of community members along with office-bearers of PAD attended the event to express their solidarity and unison with the UAE. Dr Faisal Ikram, the general secretary of PAD, unveiled the theme logo to declare the initiation of a month-long celebration.
Khattak congratulated the UAE on its 42nd National Day in his inaugural speech, admiring the vision of its founding leadership who took the nation to new heights. He also praised the initiative of the association in marking UAE’s National Day, as Pakistan has strong brotherly relations with the UAE and Pakistanis are the second largest community in the country and have an increasingly significant role in its development.
Saleh Al Mazmi thanked the PAD for showing its solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, and he also praised the Pakistani community in supporting the Dubai bid of Expo2020, expressing sincere wishes that Dubai will win.
The event comprised students’ performances and competitions, among which were the art and calligraphy contest and poetry competition at the students level, and a poster and quiz competition at the schools level.
The schools that participated were Al Amal English High School, Sharjah, Pakistan Islamia Secondary School Sharjah, English Language School Dubai, Sheikh Rashid Pakistan School Dubai, Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School Ras Al Khaimah, Pakistan Education Academy Dubai, Pakistan Islamia Higher  Secondary School Ajman, Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary  School Fujairah, Pakistan Community School Musaffah , Abu Dhabi, Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary  School Al Ain, and Al Ettihad Private School Al Ain.
