DUBAI: Pakistan Change Initiative (PCI), an organisation recently formed by a group of seven Pakistani professionals in Dubai, is all set to launch “Pakistan: Reality Beyond Perception,” as their second series of events this week to promote a brighter image of the country in Dubai.
The event that will see some individuals relate their successful stories to a large number of community members from diverse backgrounds will be held on Oct. 27.
Ambreen Khan, one of the body’s seven members, while talking to The Gulf Today, said the PCI is a forum to promote the culture of change within Pakistan and to take this image of the country abroad.
“Conceptualised around six months ago by a group of seven young Pakistani professionals and three senior advisers, the objective of the group is to showcase all the success stories that come out of Pakistan,” she said.
The team feels very strongly about Pakistan being one of the few countries in the world that is blessed with an extremely rich cultural heritage and a long history stretching back to some seven millennia. The group keeps stressing the country’s natural beauty being unmatched, adding that the country, which has the world’s most beautiful places to visit, is famous for its sky-high mountains, lush green valleys, and humming rivers and streams.
Pakistan is blessed with vast land, natural gas and petroleum reserves, besides extensive deposits of coal, iron ore, copper, salt, limestone and gold, in addition to other natural resources, says Tooba Ghafur, another PCI member.
“According to a survey, Pakistan has the world’s second largest salt mine, second largest coal reserves, fifth largest gold mine and the seventh largest copper mine. Moreover, the country is the eleventh largest wheat producer and the twelfth largest rice producer. That’s the real Pakistan that PCI wants the world to connect with,” she said.
PCI is also keen to promote Pakistani hospitality. With 5,000 plus members, the PCI website portrays some amazing stories about Pakistan, some of which will be shared during the course of the upcoming Dubai event.
