SHARJAH: Scores of government departments and private organisations from all over the UAE are gearing up to take part in the three-day Abu Dhabi Special Needs Rehabilitation & Employment Exhibition to be held at Abu Dhabi Armed Forces Officers’ Club from Oct. 21.
The exhibition, aimed at showcasing employment opportunities for professionals with disabilities in the UAE, will be opened by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Khalifa Bin Mohammad Bin Khalid Al Nahyan.
The event organised by DMG Events, and supported by Zayed Higher Organisation, Emirates Steel, Adnoc, UAE Telecommunication Regulatory Authority and Emirates NBD, among other organisations, is aimed at engaging corporations in the implementation of HR policies and accessibility facelifts that would allow them to hire highly skilled professionals with disabilities. The UAE government and semi-government organisations are the biggest employers of differently-abled working age youth.
Social, educational and professional inclusion of people with disabilities is high on the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision document and the overall UAE leadership agenda as per the 2006 UAE disability law.
Alexander Franzetti, Marketing Manager of DMG Events, said Adnoc and ABILITIESme will be attending and supporting the third edition of Abu Dhabi Employment and Rehabilitation for Special Needs Exhibition.
Other key organisations that also participated in this celebration of professional empowerment for people with disabilities include the UAE Red Crescent, Emirates Steel, Emirates National Bank of Dubai, the Government of Dubai Community Development Authority, the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and Abu Dhabi Education Council and others.
Abu Dhabi Employment and Rehabilitation for Special Needs Exhibition is making a bold statement: recruiting a professional with disabilities can help employers gain a strategic advantage.
