PTI to announce overseas party structure

DUBAI: Fauzia Kasuri, a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), assured the overseas party workers on the early setting up of the organisation to hold in-party elections and discuss reservations with the party chairman.
Kasuri, who is an adviser to Imran Khan, chairman of PTI, on overseas affairs and former president of PTI’s women’s wing, said this while addressing a gathering of party workers recently in Dubai. Image
The event was organised by the PTI’s Dubai chapter and attended by prominent party seniors including Imran Chaudhry, Mian Owais Anjum, Amjad Iqbal Amjad and others.
The party workers based in the UAE raised their concerns on a number of issues pertaining to recent general elections and by-elections.
“The party ignored the suggestions of senior workers and depended on the seasoned politicians who blow hard on the party ideology while the role of overseas Pakistanis especially the party well-wishers were also not considered seriously,” commented Anjum.
He also pointed that the overseas party workers will not only be considered as fundraisers but should also be given due respect within the party cadre as well as the party structure overseas.
They also demanded an increase in the number of members as a precursor for next general elections in the country after 5 years.
Amjad raised concerns over the lack of the party’s second layer of leadership, which was not active during the general elections. “We were shocked after the accident of Imran Khan prior to the general elections when he fell from a stage and there was extreme lack of leadership to control the party in the general elections which ended very badly,” he added.
He also pointed that the PTI’s role in the national assembly is nothing as they had expected.
Kasuri, who had recently returned from a tour of the UK and US on behalf of Imran Khan, thanked the overseas party supporters and said that she was very much aware of the weaknesses within the party and the chairman (Imran Khan) had assured everyone that these issues would be resolved on a priority basis.
She appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis especially the workers who always extended their support either financially or morally all the time.
“Overseas workers are a great asset of PTI and soon we are going to announce office-bearers in overseas chapters to further strengthen our presence. We need you more than ever and the party will collect suggestions on various reforms under way in Pakistan, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (KP) where the provincial government is being run by the PTI,” she added.
