DUBAI: A new body consisting of nine office-bearers of Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), will take oath on Sept 20 for the next 2-year term (2013-2014). The oath taking ceremony will be held at the PAD premises while officials from the Community Development Authority (CDA) and PAD members will attend the event.
While talking to The Gulf Today, Rizwan Fancy, head of the ad-hoc committee, related this and added that the whole procedure of new members have been supervised by the CDA after the officials visited the PAD in Ramadan. “After the completion of 2-year tenure by the previous body, the ad hoc committee announced the new elections in June to select a new 12-member body for PAD to run for the next 2-year tenure. Only one candidate filed papers which were not adequate to hold the whole exercise and with the consultation of CDA the former body with a couple of new faces was elected unanimously,” he said.
He pointed that a meeting of the officials of Community Development Authority, Election Committee and Ad Hoc Committee of PAD was held on Aug 4 to discuss the results of the Election 2013.
“However, complying on the directives of CDA to make uniform the numbers of executive committee members in community associations, the PAD has changed the number of posts for the office-bearers from 12 to 9. Dr Ziaul Hassan will be the president for the next 2-year term while Syed Zahid Ali Shah Tirmizi was selected as vice-president, Dr Faisel Ikram as general secretary, Syed Tahir Hasnain Zaidi as joint secretary, Farhan Pir Muhammad Mendha as treasurer, Malik Arshad Ahmed as cultural affairs secretary, Raja Asad Farooq as sports secretary, Muhammad Ali Edhi as community welfare secretary and Muhammad Zaim will be the public relations secretary,” Fancy elaborated on the details.
Furthermore, he said that the necessary amendments will be made in the constitution of the PAD in line with the guidelines of the CDA by the newly elected executive committee and will communicate them as such to the members in the future.
It was also mentioned that the ad hoc committee in the last over two-month period had organised a couple of events, including a function to celebrate the country’s 67th Independence Day as well as a free medical camp.
