SHARJAH: A number of overseas Pakistanis from the US, Canada and UK have been descending on Dubai to be part of the contingent of former president and chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Pervez Musharraf, who is reportedly ready to go back to his home country on March 24.
Khurrum Haris, media adviser of APML in Dubai, told The Gulf Today that the preparations for the departure of the former president are complete. “In this regard, the early morning flight with an airline has been booked with approximately 300 people to accompany Musharraf including 100 international and Pakistani mediapersons,” Haris said.
He said that as soon as Musharraf lands in Karachi, thousands of supporters will be there to welcome their leader after over 4 years.
“We have informed that as soon as he lands in Pakistan, Musharraf will present himself before the court as there are no arrest warrants. It will be the state’s responsibility to provide all the security measures to Musharraf as a former president of the country,” he said.
“Workers at the grassroots level in Pakistan have been mobilising the masses to welcome their leader and on the day of his return a huge gathering of citizens will surprise everyone,” a UAE-based party leader said.
Farzana Mansoor, head of the women’s wing in the UAE, told The Gulf Today that a large number of women workers would also accompany Musharraf.
