DUBAI: The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has planned a number of activities to mark Pakistan Day to be celebrated on March 23.
The body representing a huge number of Pakistani expatriates residing in Dubai and Northern Emirates has been organising an array of indoor and outdoor activities for the community.
A number of programmes have been finalised, including beach cleaning, family funfair and health awareness activities at the PAD premises and others to celebrate the country’s National Day, marking the day (March 23, 1940), when Muslims in a resolution demanded a separate land for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Since independence in 1947, Pakistanis celebrate this day to remember the leaders whose struggle resulted in a new country, Pakistan.
According to officials, PAD in collaboration with Dubai Municipality (DM), community members, and students from different schools and universities will take part in the cleaning of Jumeirah beach near Burj Al Arab early on March 23 morning.
Dr Faisal Ikram, general secretary of PAD, told The Gulf Today on Friday that the organisation would hold the activities to maintain national unity among its ranks.
“This year we have five major events, including beach cleaning, blood donation, a four-day Mena Bazaar (family bazaar), health awareness activities and an education open day for students and parents,” he said.
